Black artist tied to Chicago and Hartford
Tiana Sharpe (2001) is a Black multidisciplinary artist from Chicago, IL.
She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Hispanic Studies; with minors in African American Studies, and Community Action at Trinity College (2023), where her research and art understood the legacy of trauma within vulnerable communities and the interconnected nature of violence throughout all global human rights struggles in the Americas. Her interest centers on decolonization and transitional justice after social death. Including the ways, art can envision and empower community action. She is currently pursuing her Masters of Fine Arts at the School of Art Institute Chicago.
Her artwork reflects her thoughts as a scholar, and her lived experience as a Black woman in the U.S. Tiana is an artist of multiple mediums, starting with fabric and acrylic paint, and has graduated to other mediums such as oil and gauche paint, crochet, storytelling and digital painting.
